Stand where a driver would stop before leaving the property. Look toward both directions of approaching traffic. Repeat the exercise at internal intersections, pedestrian crossings and the ends of parking rows.
If a future pile would sit inside that field of view, choose another location.

Managers often picture snow piles getting taller. In practice, the footprint matters just as much.

A storage zone that is barely adequate for one event is not really a storage zone.
Planning Snow Storage Around Parking Capacity
Every pile has a capacity cost.

Where does gravity take it?
If the answer is across a pedestrian route, through heavily used parking, down a loading approach or toward a shaded section of pavement, reconsider the location.
