3 Ways To Make The Long Distance Flight To Australia More Comfortable!

Flying to Australia

Average flight times from any UK airport to any airport down under is around 20 hours. That’s nearly a whole day in the sky! And when you’re spending so long on a plane, cooped up in a metal tube soaring through the clouds, you’re going to need a plan for how to stay comfortable and sane!

That’s what we’re here to help with. No matter where you’re headed, whether you’re spending time in Sydney, fancy checking out Melbourne, or have a more peaceful getaway in Adelaide planned, your long-distance flight doesn’t have to play on your mind!

As such, if you’ve booked a flight to Oz, and you’re in desperate need of some ideas to make the time more enjoyable and healthy, here are 3 things to consider.

Keep Your Fluid Levels Up

On long-distance flights, water needs to be consumed in double quantities. The dry air in plane cabins will instantly wick all the moisture out of you in an hour flat, so you can only imagine how dry you’ll feel after 20 hours!

Pack Items That’ll Let You Create Your Own Bubble

Depending on the kind of flight you’re taking, the options for in-flight entertainment may not be up to much. But even if you’ve got movies to choose from, you’ll want to have items on hand that’ll let you plug in and forget about everything else going on around you.

Extra power for your phone or tablet, so you can plug them in to charge no matter how much you’re using them. Similarly, headphones – and make sure they’re of the noise-cancelling varieties. This will block out most of the sound whirling around your head, including the background hum of the plane itself.

Think About What You’ll Need When You Land

Once you’ve made it through your 20+ hour flight, you’re probably not going to feel all too great once you touch down. You’ll be relieved to finally get there, of course! And you’ll likely have a bit of pent-up energy that’s got you raring to go, but you’ve just spent nearly a whole day on a plane. You’re going to need to check in with yourself before doing anything else!

And that’s not to mention the timezone difference here either! Australia is at least 7 hours ahead of the UK at any time (different regions will vary), and your body clock is going to be all over the place.

So think about what you’ll need when you land. First things first, drop your stuff! Don’t drag that suitcase all around with you when you’re jetlagged, cranky, hungry, and have plunged into a very different climate. Check your bags into a Radical Storage Sydney locker room to rid yourself of the weight.

Then have an idea of where you can go to find easy transport, affordable food, and somewhere to coordinate for a few minutes. Bustling, crowded airports don’t make that easy!
